Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

St. Peter Parish

Overview

Keeping with the early Church tradition, we will be focusing on  two  groups of adults:

1.  Adults who are not Catholic but would like to find out about  the Catholic faith.

2.  Adults who are Catholic but have been away from the Church and now want to find out about coming back.

Please check back for our 2010 Scheduled Classes.

All sessions are held Sunday mornings

The Inquiry Period ends with a liturgical rite: This first phase of the RCIA journey is an informal time for exploring, asking questions, expressing concerns and getting to know the church community.

Catechumenate Period - A candidate enters this phase once they have stated their intention to continue the formation process.  During this period, the person learns about Catholic beliefs and practices, joins with the community for worship and action and participates in Scripture reflection sessions.

Purification Period - The individual enters this phase once it is determined they are prepared to be received into full communion with the church. This is a period of preparation for receipt of the sacraments and there is an emphasis on prayer, Scripture reflection and self-examination.

Mystogogia - The individual enters this phase once it is determined they are prepared to be received into full communion with the church. This is a period of preparation for receipt of the sacraments and there is an emphasis on prayer, Scripture reflection and self-examination.
